Apple Music for Artists: A Guide for co:brand Clients

Apple Music for Artists is Apple's platform for managing your presence on Apple Music and across the Apple ecosystem. Once your music is live, it gives you access to streaming analytics, audience data, and tools to manage and optimise your artist profile. This guide covers everything you need to know about getting set up through co:brand and making the most of what Apple Music for Artists has to offer.

Setting Up Your Apple Music Artist Profile Through co:brand

New Artists: Creating a Profile for the First Time

If you don't yet have an Apple Music artist profile, the process works in the same way as other DSPs within the co:brand platform. When entering your artist credits during release setup, check the "Does not have streaming profiles" option for Apple Music. Our team is automatically notified and will create a new artist profile on your behalf as part of the release delivery process.

Existing Artists: Linking Your Profile to a New Release

If you already have an Apple Music artist profile, use the artist mapping feature in co:brand's release setup to enter your Apple Artist ID. This ensures your release is delivered to the correct profile and appears on your existing page rather than creating a duplicate.

Claiming Your Apple Music for Artists Account

To access your Apple Music for Artists dashboard, head to artists.apple.com.

What You'll Need from co:brand

To complete your Apple Music for Artists claim, you'll need two pieces of information — both of which co:brand will provide to you:

  • Your Apple Artist ID

  • Your Product Apple ID (associated with your release)

Get in touch with the co:brand team via whichever channel you've been using — Intercom, WhatsApp, or email one of us on the distribution team — and we'll send these over. As with Spotify, we'd encourage you to get this set up as early as possible so your profile is ready to go on release day.

The Claim Process

  1. Sign in with your Apple ID

  2. Search for your artist name and select your profile

  3. Submit your claim using the Apple Artist ID and Product Apple ID provided by co:brand

  4. Apple will review your application — this typically takes a few business days

  5. Once approved, you'll have full access to your Apple Music for Artists dashboard

Having trouble claiming? If you run into any issues during the claim process, get in touch with the co:brand team and we'll reach out to Apple on your behalf to help troubleshoot. Apple Music for Artists support can also be accessed directly via the artists.apple.com dashboard.

Optimising Your Apple Music Profile

Once you have access to your Apple Music for Artists account, it's worth taking time to make sure your profile is presenting you in the best possible light.

Profile Image and Artwork

Apple Music places a strong emphasis on visual quality. Make sure your profile image is high resolution and representative of your current artist identity. Keep it consistent with how you're presenting yourself across other platforms.

Artist Bio

Your bio on Apple Music is a key touchpoint for new listeners. Keep it concise, authentic, and up to date — especially around new releases. Use it to tell your story, reference key collaborations or milestones, and give listeners a reason to keep coming back.

Artist Playlists

You can create and feature playlists on your Apple Music profile. Use these to showcase your influences, build a fuller picture of your sound, and keep your profile active between releases.

Understanding Your Apple Music Analytics

Apple Music for Artists provides streaming data including plays, listeners, Shazams, and purchases broken down by track, album, and geography. You can also see which playlists your music has been added to and track performance over time.

That said, for a complete picture of how your music is performing across all platforms — including revenue data, cross-DSP streaming comparisons, social stats, and audience insights — your co:brand Release Analytics dashboard is where you'll get the most value. Apple Music for Artists is a useful lens on one platform; co:brand gives you the full view.

Pitching Your Music for Apple Music Editorial Consideration

As with Spotify, co:brand manages the editorial pitching process for Apple Music on your behalf. The pitching information you submit via the co:brand platform — including your release story, genre, mood, and any notable performance history — is used by our in-house team when pitching to Apple Music's editorial hubs directly.

The same best practices apply: submit your pitching information as soon as your release is submitted in co:brand, and make sure your release is set up 3–4 weeks before your release date to give us the best possible chance of securing editorial support. You'll find out on release day whether Apple Music has offered any playlist placement or other featuring opportunities.

If you're interested in pitching to Apple Music independently, please reach out to us first so we can coordinate.
