To send SMS or WhatsApp messages on co:brand, you must register for a mobile carrier sub-account. The business details you enter will be used by carriers to validate your legitimacy as a business. In the US, the details you provide inform your Trust Score which determines how many messages you can send per day.
The timeline for registration is 2 weeks but may be longer if your application gets rejected and requires a manual appeal.
Best Practices
Follow our best practices to get approved as quickly as possible, and with the best SMS performance.
1. Use your official business information
No matter what country you are registered in, the US authority will check that your official name, address, and registration number all match your local authority. A common error is using your current place of work address, which may not match your official address. Similarly, your official business name may vary from public operating names.
For this reason, we recommend copying from an official document when submitting the form. For countries other than the US and the UK, you will be required to submit the actual document itself.
U.S. businesses should reference their W-9 or SS-4 documentation.
U.K. businesses should reference the UK business registry.
Other European businesses should reference their VAT Certification document.
Canadian businesses should reference CRA documentation, ideally GST/HST Registration Confirmation or Return. Submit the full Business Number with RT program account, e.g. 123456789 RT0001.
Australian businesses should reference their ASIC Registration Record.
Only use "Other" if your business type is not available in the drop-down. List the specific registration type the number represents beside the registration number.
2. Make sure your website matches your business, and is active
You are required to submit a business website. It will be evaluated during registration.
The business website must match your business name. If you do not have a business website, you submit the Spotify profile link for the artist you are registering. Similarly, if you are registering a brand or an event and do not have a website for your business, submit the website for that brand or event.
If you have a business website but it is under construction, or has broken elements, do not submit it. Use the artist/brand/event alternative page instead. Inaccessible websites will get rejected.
3. Use an Authorized Representative with a matching domain
The Authorized Representative's email address domain should match the business name. If you are registering on behalf of another party, ask if you can submit their contact information instead. They will not be contacted as part of the registration.
Public or non-matching domains can get accepted, but this is not guaranteed.
4. For Register A Recognized Business for High Volume
If you plan to send messages at scale in the U.S. (50,000+), it’s worth checking if your label can sponsor your messaging registration. Partnering with a label can unlock higher delivery speeds and increased volume limits, while staying fully compliant. This will not impact the branding of the drops.
