Set up a Voicemail Drop or Automated Replies

How to set up a voicemails and auto-replies to your number

In addition to any Drop campaigns you are running, you can also set-up additional phone number engagement opportunities for fans via voicemail, SMS and WhatsApp.

Voicemail interactions

You can set up a voicemail which your fans will hear whenever they call the artist's phone number (as a reminder, you can find the phone number under SMS Settings in Profile Settings). You can enable and disable it at any time. You can also replace audio files over time as you wish, provided they meet the upload criteria.

The pricing structure for voicemails is $0.014 per 1-minute of call time per fan call (this means at minimum $0.014 USD per call) and standard regional SMS pricing for the opt-in message which follows the call. Voicemails are capped at 5-minutes per fan call. There are no one-time set-up charges.

After a fan calls the voicemail, they will receive a default text which will ask them to reply YES in order to subscribe to automated messages. If they reply YES, they will then receive a custom message that you can configure.

Here is a summary of the fan experience for voicemails:

  1. Fan calls the phone number

  2. They hear a recorded voice-note (can be a song, artist message, etc.)

  3. After the call, they receive an opt-in request text from the same number

  4. Once they reply YES and provide consent, the custom message is delivered

  5. Optional, if you sent a Drop link in that message the fan appear as a sign-up on that Drop

Post-call default messages will be delivered via SMS. If you wish collect WhatsApp after the call, include a Drop link in your custom message with WhatsApp enabled as a sign-up option.

Voicemail set-up instructions

Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Profile Settings for the Artist, click Auto Replies, and toggle-on Voicemail Reply

  2. Upload your audio file. It must be an MP3 file

  3. Configure the auto-reply SMS message, which delivers after the fan replies YES to our automated consent prompt

Recommended: link a sign-up Drop link in your message to capture additional fan information like location, social profile, and email address, or to capture WhatsApp if applicable.

Alternatively, you could use this opportunity to guide fans to a tour link, merch link, or other fan resource, depending on the objectives of your voicemail campaign.

You can upload new audio files at any time and they will be active immediately. To end your campaign, simply toggle off the voicemail feature.

SMS/WhatsApp Reply Interactions

Similar to voicemail set-up, you can configure your Artist's phone number to deliver automated responses whenever a fan messages their number.

When you post the phone number in a public venue or on a story post, fans will be able to message directly. Many users will implement this as an "always-on" strategy for general sign-ups.

Auto-replies support both SMS and WhatsApp. Fans will receive the auto-reply to whichever method they choose to use.

Here is a summary of the fan experience for auto-replies:

  1. Fan sends a text or WhatsApp to the phone number (their text can say anything)

  2. They receive an automated message requesting a YES reply to opt-in

  3. Next, they receive the custom message you configure

There are no one-time set-up costs for activating auto-replies. Co:brand's regional SMS and WhatsApp rates apply to messages similar to all other messages you send on the platform.

Auto-reply set-up instructions

The steps to set automated SMS/WhatsApp replies are the same as the second step for voicemail.

Simply toggle on the feature, and fill in the response message you wish to send anyone who messages the phone number. You can include links and emojis in the message. To turn it off, disable the toggle, and it will immediately stop sending automated replies.

Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Profile Settings for the Artist, click Auto Replies, and toggle-on SMS/WhatsApp Reply

  2. Enter your custom message

To end your campaign, simply toggle off the SMS/whatsApp Reply feature

Voicemail and Auto-Reply Common Questions

Where can I find people who called or texted?

They will appear under Drops > All Sign-Ups. They will not show up under any specific Drop unless you linked one and they completed that sign-up after their first interaction.

Can I listen to the voicemails people leave?

No - at this time, co:brand does not make the actual fan audio available for listening in the app.

How can I customize the opt-in message?

The initial opt-in message is not customizable. It is structured to obtain clear opt-in consent in compliance with a variety of international standards. All messaging thereafter will be customizable and aligned with the tone and style of your choice.
